Chateau Langoa Barton 2011
The 2011 vintage review deems the vintage poor. The year is described as dry and hot, causing the Cabernet Sauvignon grape to be extra vulnerable to sunburns. We have had the joy of tasting several left-bank wines from the 2011 vintage and find us disagreeing with the 2011 vintage review. Both Leoville and Langoa Barton have produced great wines from this vintage. To conclude we would like to add that most of the left-bank 2011 vintage wine drinks beautifully now with some time in a decanter to let the wines breathe and open up.
Immediate aromas of black currants, plums, a hint of green bell peppers, anise, tobacco. After decanting the wine for two hours the aromas extend to more red notes and wet dirt. We recommend a minimum of two hours decanting.
The wine had a very nice structure a wet feel to it. Tastes of plums, anise, dark fruits, baby needles and blackberries. The tannins and acidity accommodates the wine beautifully.
